FlosForge Survival Tools for Android
Privacy policy for FlosForge Survival Tools
Checked against FlosForge Survival Tools 1.0 on 29 September 2026. The data controller is Dimitrios T, Athens, Greece — hello@flosforge.eu.
FlosForge Survival Tools requires no user accounts, contains zero analytics or telemetry, and serves no advertising. All measured data stays strictly within the app’s private local sandbox, excluded from cloud backups and device-to-device transfers. Network access is used solely to fetch map tiles when you enable the online map layer.
What FlosForge Survival Tools collects about you
Nothing. There is no account, no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting and no identifier of any kind. The app has no server of its own to send anything to, and it does not phone home to check for updates — Google Play delivers new versions.
What it stores, and where
- Readings, tracks and waypoints
- Pressure history, storm alert logs, recorded GPS tracks, custom waypoints, and dashboard configurations remain in the app’s private local storage.
- Last known position
- Retained locally so astronomical calculations, solar times, and true north declination remain accurate offline. GPS is only accessed when an active tool requires it or while recording a track.
- Cached map tiles
- Only downloaded when online maps are enabled. Stored in non-backed-up cache storage, capped at 400 MB, and purgeable at any time in Settings.
- Excluded from backups
- The app explicitly opts out of Google Drive cloud backups and device-to-device transfer protocols, ensuring your data never syncs automatically to remote servers.
Everything it can connect to
There are no FlosForge servers or remote databases. The app connects to external services only when you explicitly trigger an action:
- OpenStreetMap and OpenTopoMap tile servers
- Disabled by default. When enabled, map tiles for your current view are downloaded directly from tile.openstreetmap.org or tile.opentopomap.org. These requests send your standard IP address and requested map coordinates, along with the app identifier required by OpenStreetMap policy. No personal or device identifiers are sent.
- User-initiated shares and exports
- When you export coordinates, GPX trails, CSV logs, or dashboard screenshots, they pass through Android’s native share sheet to whichever destination app or local folder you select. The app performs no background uploads.
- External links
- Tapping the website link opens flosforge.eu in your default web browser.
What never leaves your phone
- No sensor readings, tracks, waypoints, or coordinates are ever uploaded by the app.
- No background location tracking occurs, except while you actively record a GPS track with a persistent status notification.
- No analytics SDKs, crash trackers, ad networks, or account requirements.
- No proprietary third-party libraries — built strictly with official AndroidX and Jetpack components.
Safeguards
- Offline by design
- The online map layer is disabled by default. The 475,000-peak catalog, coastal geometry, and astronomical algorithms are bundled directly inside the app installation.
- Permissions requested on demand
- Location, camera, and notification permissions are requested only when you open a feature that requires them. Camera access is used solely for the live HUD and horizon viewfinder backdrops; video frames are never recorded or saved.
- Minimal background execution
- Background barometer checks run briefly in under two seconds. The app never queries GPS in the background unless you are actively logging a trail.
Your rights, and who to ask
Because the app holds nothing about you, there is nothing for the controller to access, correct or erase on your behalf: everything it knows is in files on your own phone, under your own control. Uninstalling the app completely removes your pressure history, tracks, waypoints, custom dashboards, settings, and cached map tiles. Any GPX files, backups, or screenshots you explicitly saved to your device storage remain until you delete them. For anything else, write to hello@flosforge.eu. The site-wide privacy policy covers this website, your rights under the GDPR, and the supervisory authority you can complain to.
Changes
This statement is checked against each release. If a version changes what the app stores or what it can connect to, the version and date at the top change with it.
