Cookie policy
Last updated 23 September 2026
This site stores two things in your browser regardless, because without them it cannot remember your own settings. It sets two Google cookies only if you have said yes to analytics — and it asks before, not after.
Everything that can be stored
| Name | Type | Set by | What it is for | Lasts | Needs consent |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
theme | Local storage | FlosForge | Remembers whether you chose the light or the dark appearance. | Until you clear site data | No |
analytics-consent | Local storage | FlosForge | Remembers your answer to the analytics question, and when you gave it, so you are not asked on every page. | Until you clear site data | No |
_ga | Cookie | Distinguishes one browser from another so repeat visits are not counted as new people. | 2 years | Yes | |
_ga_MSRH9ZTE2X | Cookie | Keeps the state of the current visit — when it started, how many pages in. | 2 years | Yes |
Why two of them need no consent
A site is allowed to store what it needs to do the thing you asked it to do. Your
appearance preference is a setting you chose; the record of your analytics answer is
what stops the question being asked again on every page. Neither is a cookie — both
live in localStorage, which, unlike a cookie, is never attached to a
network request and never leaves your browser. Refusing them is not possible because
there is nothing to refuse; clearing site data removes them.
The analytics cookies
Google Analytics 4 is not loaded until you allow it. Before you answer, no request is made to Google, no cookie exists, and Google is not told you were here. If you allow it, the two cookies above are created by Google’s script running on this domain — they are first-party cookies, readable only by this site.
What is measured is described in full in the privacy policy: which pages were read, an approximate location from your IP, device and browser, and where you came from. There is no advertising integration, no remarketing, no cross-site identifier and no attempt to work out who you are.
Changing your mind
You can withdraw consent at any time, and it takes one click. Withdrawing deletes both Google cookies and stops any further collection. Nothing on this site is behind that choice — there is no feature you lose by saying no.
Or stop it at the browser
Every browser can block or delete cookies for a site, and most can block third-party scripts outright. A content blocker or a browser with tracking protection on will stop the Google script loading even if it has been allowed here — nothing on this site tries to work around that, and nothing breaks when it happens.
The applications
None of this applies to the FlosForge applications. They are native software, not web pages: no cookies, no analytics, no accounts, and no network request beyond the job you asked them to do. The privacy policy lists what each one does and does not send.
